2010 Holiday concert!

The chorus, Viking Singers, concert band, jazz ensemble, and the 5th grade band all performed for our students in the annual Holiday Concert.  We had some very special guests from Volmers Country Living Center in Vassalboro.  The music was great and it was a festive occasion for all.  Enjoy some scenes from the concert!

Winter Wonderland Dance!

The snow was falling and it was COLD outside!  But it wasn't cold INSIDE!  It was HOT!  The kids were having a great time at the Winter Wonderland Dance!  Check out the pics of great kids having an awesome time!

Waterville Elks Club cares about kids!

The VCS 4th graders received dictionaries from the Waterville Elks Club.  The kids played some word games to learn more about using them.

Mr. E honored at VCS with the Spirit of America Award!

Our very own Mr. E (Esposito) was honored here at VCS and presented with a very special award, The Spirit of America Award.  Students, staff, and special guests gathered in the VCS gymnasium to surprise Mr. E with the presentation of the award.  We are very proud to call him our own and we congratulate him on a well-deserved award!  Way to go Mr. E!

VCS Boys soccer CHAMPS!

The boys soccer team capped a perfect undefeated season with a win over China in the SVAC championship game.  The Vikings won by a score of 4-0.  Congratulations boys!

Spanish Class Field Trip

On October 25, students in 7^th grade Spanish joined with China Middle School 7^th graders taking Spanish for a field trip to Margarita's restaurant. Profe Soifer's 30 estudiantes learned about life in the Mexican city of Tlaquepaque, visiting several artists' and craftsmen's studios through a DVD presentation. Led by the Education Outreach Coordinator, Señor Pat Picciano, they toured the restaurant's extensive folk art collection, and then watched as he prepared guacamole and salsa cruda. Students were then treated to a Mexican luncheon complete with enchiladas, arroz mexicano, frijoles refritos, and fried ice cream. ¡Qué sabroso! Before they left, Señora Soifer was presented with a beautiful, handcrafted candleholder for Día de Muertos, or Day of the Dead, which is on display in the Spanish classroom. Thanks to our PTO and Student Activity Fund for helping to make this trip fabuloso!

Annual Grandparents Breakfast!

Grandparent’s breakfast will be celebrated on the days of September 30 and October 1. We ask that grandparents choose one day to attend with your grandchild. Breakfast will start at 7:30. The cost is free for grandparents only. Students will pay .50 and all other adults will pay $2.00.

The menu for these 2 days will be a cheese omelet, muffin, sausage link, fruit, juice, milk & coffee. Enjoy!!

Our librarian, Mr. Rau, will be hosting a Book Fair during this time. Please feel free to stop by the library with your grandchild to look at all the great books, posters and novelty items!

Spanish Class Play

On Thursday, June 10, the 8th grade Spanish class put on 3 performances of the play, "El muchacho pastor,"  better known in English as "The Boy who Cried Wolf."  The class, comprised of Taylor Bailey, Moriah and Mikaylah Champagne, Tasha Dutil, and Gillian Welch, wrote an original script for the story in Spanish, and then translated it into English.  They performed the Spanish version first, all changed roles and costumes quickly, performed the English version, and finished out the performance with a rousing song-and-dance rendition of the story in Spanish.  Students in Grades 3-5 as well as some from the K-2 classes attended the show.  Hats off to these talented bilingual muchachas!!

Girls Softball CHAMPS!

Congratulations to Coach Nadeau and the VCS Girls Softball Team for winning the SVAC Championship!  Way to go girls!

Spring Dance!

Wow!  Today the temps rose into the 70's on April 2nd!  Not only was it HOT outside, but the neon dance at VCS was hot too!  The kids had an awesome time!  Check out the pics!

Congratulations to VCS Math Team! Champs again!

The VCS Vikings not only excel on the athletic fields, but in the classroom as well.  The VCS 6th - 8th grade Math Team won the 2010 Kennebec Valley Math League Competition again this year!  VCS has brought home the 1st place trophy 8 out of the last 9 years!  This year 14 out of a possible 30 medals were taken by VCS team members.  Great job kids!  You make us proud!

You can showcase your talent alongside your friends, family or neighbors.

Remember this is a Family Show.
All outfits, music, and language must be appropriate for an all ages show.

Music: Do you play a musical instrument?

Comedy: Can you tell a few jokes?
Do you know a funny story?

Recitation: Reading your favorite poem or short story.

Action: Do you have a gymnastics routine?
Can you hula-hoop? How about with more than one?

All acts must be 2 minutes or less.,


Try-outs : All students, music and outfits must have approval from the Variety Show Committee before displaying their talent at the event.
